According to the National Examinations Council has disclosed that out of the 1,041,536 candidates that sat for the examinations, only 742,455 got five credits, including Mathematics and English Language.

A statement by NECO'S Acting Registrar/Chief Executive of the council, Alhaji Abubakar Gana, also revealed decrease in examination malpractices.

He said a total number of 20,181 candidates were involved in examination malpractices.

Gana said ''the comparative analysis of candidates performance in the examination for 2017 (70.85%) and 2018 (71.48%) shows that there is a 0.63 per cent improvement in the general performance of candidates.''

He further disclosed that out of the 1,041,536 candidates who registered for the examinations in Nigeria only 1,032,729 sat for it.

The statement added: “We have 20,181 candidates involved in examination malpractice and this represents 0.63% less than that of 2017 exam malpractice.”
